“In this Daniel story narrative, those who are really guilty need to be punished. But on the contrary, the innocent (Daniel), although condemned wrongfully, is not hurt at all. However, in the account of Jesus, the opposite is true. He was sinless, He was innocent…but in the eyes of God when Jesus was on the cross, He was not innocent because He at that time took on the sins of the world when He was nailed and dying on the cross. So here is the twist: the innocent Jesus became sin in the eyes of God when He took on the sins of sinners. For us, that is the most important and ultimate reason to acknowledge and engage with Him continuously – day by day, hour by hour, with thanksgiving in our hearts. May today’s message give us a new depth of joy and a deeper sense of rest when we consider that God’s beloved Son, Jesus who is the innocent, the sinless man who became sin on the cross, so that you and I who are sinners can become the innocent in the sight of God. Let’s pray: …”
